The Mikasa Parchment line is classified as fine china, which is the middle grade category of the types of dinnerware that they offer. This design offers a white plate that features a gray rim with silver colored scroll accents. The scroll design looks almost vine-like. It also features inlaid platinum as an inside and outside border. Because of the delicate designs on the rim and the inlaid platinum, these plates are not recommended for use in the dishwasher nor should they be place in the microwave. 

In the Mikasa Parchment line you will typically see the items either sold separately or in sets of 5 piece table settings. A 5 piece settings includes a dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, and a cup and saucer. Because the line is intended for formal use, you will also be able to purchase a larger set that include 8 five-piece table settings. In addition, the line offers a variety of serving and accessory pieces which includes but is not limited to a gravy boat, coffee server, covered butter container, fruit bowl, covered casserole and salt and pepper shakers. 

This line of ornately designed dinnerware offers such a selection of serving items that you can make each item on your formal dinner table harmonize with one another. Plus, you do not have to be limited to the gray color, as they also offer colored Parchment lines. The Parchment Blue line features the same platinum border and silver colored vine design just with a rim background of light blue. In addition, there is a Parchment Red which offers the same design but with a bold, rich red colored background on the rim. They are designed so that you can mix and match the colors if you please.
